The Falkland Islands Unit (T.S. Endurance) of the Sea
Cadet Corps is part of the UK Sea Cadet Corps, and is one of just three
overseas units, the others being in Bermuda and Malta.
Unit membership is open to young people
(male or female) who are resident in the Falkland Islands, aged between
10
and 18 with the exceptions that the Marine Cadet Section is open only to
boys at present and the minimum age is 13.
The Sea Cadet Corps is
a registered charity in the United Kingdom and in the Falkland Islands
(No C16), it is jointly sponsored by the Sea Cadet Association and the
MOD (Navy)
The Sea Cadets are a
Uniformed and Disciplined Youth Organisation, Proud of its traditions
which are broadly based on those of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines
whose uniforms we are privileged to wear. We have a strict dress code
and expect a certain degree of behaviour from our members.
The Sea Cadets Corps are not
a military recruitment agency although many former cadets serve in the
Royal Navy and The Royal Marines the Merchant Navy and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.
